Benefits of Natural Carpet
Standard Nylon/Polyester Carpet:
These products are made with oil-based synthetic yarn, which typically contain some recycled content. Nylon or polyester yard is tufted into a woven primary backing and adhered to secondary backing using latex. This latex contains various chemicals, fillers and compounds. Nylon cannot simply be disposed of by melting it down to be used again under a different application; to recycle nylon require that it be reduced to the independent chemicals that are used to form it.
Floorganics Carpet:
The
carpet that we manufacture is made of all natural wool. Our production process does not add unnecessary dyes or chemicals to the final product. We have developed a process that blends natural wool, found in sheep, to create various colors of carpet. The
all natural wool yarn is tufted into an all natural jute cotton backing, then adhered to another layer of all natural jute cotton backing using all natural rubber. For your convenience we now also manufacture
all natural carpet pads to use in conjunction with your
all natural carpet.
Even with recycled content, most carpet sold today is still composed of almost 100% synthetic materials derived from oil (nylon, polyester, polypropylene). In addition, this carpet uses a wide array of chemicals, dyes, and water in production. All natural carpet like Floorganics uses non of these, thus making it extremely safe for you and your family. There are many benefits to
natural carpet, a number of them outlined below:
Non-toxic carpet
More than 50 million Americans suffer from allergies of some kind. It is estimated that many of the synthetic materials used to manufacture products of all kinds are the main contributors to these allergies. Since all natural carpet is made of 100% pure wool (which does not promote the growth of harmful materials) the fibers that make up wool don’t emit harmful substances.
Eco flooring options
Since wool is a naturally occurring fiber, it only makes sense that it is resistant to stains. This aspect makes wool very easy to maintain. Since all natural carpets don’t damage easily, they become a very eco-friendly flooring option because they last longer and have less need to be replaced. Of benefit to you and your family, a carpet that naturally repels stains should be easier to clean and maintain.
Eco friendly flooring
Many carpet fibers used to make traditional carpets are synthetic in nature. All natural carpets are made from wool, which is the only fiber used to produce carpet that is not derived from oil-based products. Petroleum products are not renewable and do not break down naturally in landfills. Wool-based products are biodegradable and come from a naturally occurring source. Many consumers in today’s market want to minimize their impact on the environment and often look for eco-friendly flooring options for their home.
All natural wool carpet
Since more and more issues surrounding degradation of the environment are brought to the forefront of the news each and every day, consumers demand more accountability from manufacturers. By producing products make from naturally occurring resources, like wool, many all natural carpets can help reduce the dependency on foreign oil and thus save energy during production.
Comfortable
Most people spend more time in their homes than anywhere else. Homes are made to be lived in and thus must create a nurturing environment. The feel of soft wool under your feet is a feeling not often matched. More often than not people turn to their home to provide comfort and satisfaction so that they can relax after a hard day’s work. What better way to relax than to kick off your shoes and enjoy the comfort your all natural wool carpet can provide?
Sustainable carpet
No one wants to constantly spend money on home repairs. Products should be made to last, stand up to wear & tear and serve a purpose. All natural wool carpets provide a touch of sustainability and help extend the usable life cycle. Wool is a naturally occurring commodity that must stand up to the elements in the wild, thus helping form a superior product when used to produce the carpet that goes in your home.
Natural insulator
The way that wool fibers function, they create numerous areas within the fibers that trap air and help maintain a consistent ambient temperature in the space around them. This can help to lower utility bills since more of your home’s air will be kept inside and actively used for the purpose intended.
Sound dampener
The same functional advantage that wool fibers have in regards to insulation also applies to noise reduction. No one wants to hear what’s going on in other parts of their home. Wool carpets are the perfect dampener from sound being emitted from one room to another, as well as in between floors in a home.
Good for your family
One of the greatest fears in many homes is fire. Wool carries a wonderful benefit: it is very hard to ignite. Many synthetic carpets simply melt and become unusable when they encounter an open flame of any kind. This is good for your family’s safety and the longevity of your flooring. Furthermore, wool is naturally water resistant so that should lead to a reduced opportunity for moisture retention (lessening the chance of mold).
